Jose

Today was the unveiling of the Jose Montanya playground at Berry Elementary and it was so special!
Jose was so surprised as his family and him came to school in a big limo and were escorted by 4 policemen on motorcycles! He was directed to a stage where he was presented with awards from city council men, the mayor, and our school. This was such a great day and birthday for Jose!

Here is a link for you to see it live on Fox 5 news!

Below are posters that I made to decorate my door as the school was filled with lots of loving posters!

Take care!

Hello Friends!
Tomorrow is a very special day for my school, Godfrey G. Berry Elementary School.
A 5th grade boy, by the name of Jose, was unfortunately diagnosed with brain cancer last year.
He was given a wish by the Make a Wish foundation and out of any wish he could make, his wish was for our school to have a big playground for his friends and his little brother to play on. What an incredible selfless, amazing, and inspiriting boy Jose is to make a wish like this!!

Tomorrow, March 1st, is not only Jose's birthday but the day the playground is going to be unveiled!
This is a huge deal as we were all told to decorate our windows and doors, radio station Channel 933 will be there providing music, and NBC will be recording the event! Each class was given the task to make cards for Jose, so I thought the Impact Teachers (there are 6 of us) should do the same!
My card is below and the cover of the card book is also pictured below.

I can not wait until his sees the book and cards we have made him.
I am so excited for tomorrow!
And to make this even more special he has no clue about this as this is a big surprise!!
His family and him will be picked up in a limo and driven to school!!
I am so excited for Jose as he is such a special child!!

Take care!!

My Bridal Shower

Thursday, February 23, 2012 No comments
Hello Friends!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks...I have been very busy with wedding planning, bridal shower, lesson planning, furniture buying, and my puppy!

I recently had my bridal shower and it was amazing! I had a candy buffet and I made a banner and the labels for the candies. Below is a picture of it:

I also had my bride advice book and it was filled with tags towards the end of the shower with lots of great advice. However there was one piece of advice on a lot of cards: don't go to be angry. I will try not to do that! ;)

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Take care!

Many Thanks

Hello!

I recently made a quick thank you card to one of the amazing kindergarten teachers who I work with.
I distressed all of the edges of the cardstocks using Tim Holtz's walnut stain, rounded the edges using Martha Stewart's edge punch, Joann's paper pack of Latte Matstack, PaperTrey Ink's tag-its #6 stamp set, and lace ribbon from the store Paper Tales.

Hope you liked it!

Until next time,
Tanya

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Hello friends!

January has been filled with lots of birthdays, so I have been busy making birthday cards!
Below are pictures of a simple birthday card that I made for one of my 1st grade teacher friends who's birthday was today.

For this card I used kraft card stock, Tim Holtz distress Ink in walnut stain, Papertrey Ink dies (I love this company!), and the 4.5 x 6.5 Latte matstack from Joanns.
I absolutely love this matstack!
The stamps were from Scrappy Moms Simple Sentiments stamp set and the beautiful blue lace ribbin was from my favorite store Paper Tales.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Until next time,
Tanya

Christmas Classroom Decorations

I can't believe it is already January 6th!
I have been on vacation for the past 3 weeks and it has been so nice to sleep in, relax, and play with my 5 month year old puggle puppy Mater.
But don't let this adorable face fool you...he is the most energetic dog I have ever seen!
He is like the energizer bunny that keeps going and going and going....
I call him my little monster :)

The reason I had a 3 week break is because I work for the South Bay School District in San Diego as an Impact Teacher at Berry elementary. I work with small groups of K-5th grade everyday. I wanted to share with you the small amount of Christmasy things I did in my 5th grade classroom (I wish I did more, but I have two classrooms so it can get a bit time consuming!).

Here is a picture of our class tree with some gifts that the students brought for their secret santa gift exchange. I took this picture too early as more gifts filled up the table.

The door to my storage room.

My (still) unfinished root words, suffix, and prefix tree with some red and green ornaments.
I have not yet put leaves as we no longer have green butcher paper. :/

This is not Christmasy, but I still wanted to share.
This is our synonym grave site that some of my students created for Halloween that I have kept up.
I cut the "our synonym graveyard" using the Cutting' Up Cricut cartridge.
The white paper on the second window fell, thats why there is no white.

Have a great day!
